What is a UOB Joint Account?

Whether you’re a couple, family, or caregivers for a loved one, a joint account helps to pool funds, pay bills and track shared budgets in one place securely and conveniently.

A joint account is a savings account shared by two or more people with equal access to deposit, withdraw, and make payments. It works like a regular savings or current account, but with shared ownership and visibility for all holders.

Pick the UOB account that fits, whether it is to earn rewards or for your simple everyday banking. You can apply online or at any UOB branch with your joint account holders, for any eligible UOB savings account that allows joint ownership. Availability of joint mandates varies by product.

Who can apply?

Joint accounts are commonly used by couples, but they can also be opened by siblings, parents and children, essentially anyone who needs to manage finances together.

Joint-Alternate (Joint-OR):
Any joint account holder can perform transactions independently without needing the others' approval. This offers greater flexibility for daily transactions, while allowing all joint account holders to track the expenses together.

Joint-All (Joint-AND):
All transactions must be approved by all joint account holders — more secure but less convenient. Online payment services are not available for such accounts. To open a joint-all account, all account holders must visit any UOB branch in Singapore together.

It depends on your financial habits, trust level with the other party, and your comfort in sharing account access and visibility.

Yes. You can open a joint account with UOB in Singapore even if the other person does not already have a UOB account

Once the Bank is notified of the passing of a joint account holder, all operations of the deceased’s accounts (including the joint account) will be restricted. Withdrawals, GIRO or other payment arrangements would no longer be permitted until further instructions are provided by the surviving account holder. If you are a surviving joint account holder, you mayvisit a branchto provide your instructions to manage the account.

As we and our loved ones age, it’s important to start planning for the future. There are some resources you can look into, such as writing a will, making a CPF nomination, or making a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA).

You can open a savings account online, get approval within minutes and start transacting instantly (where applicable).
