UOB Debit Card Spending Limits
The UOB Debit Card Spending Limit is the maximum amount you can spend using your UOB Debit Card for Mastercard / Visa retail purchases, including:
- In-store transactions
- Contactless transactions
- Online purchases
All transactions are also subject to the available balance in your linked deposit account.
There are two types of spending limits:
- Daily Spending Limit - The maximum amount you can spend in a single day.
- Monthly Spending Limit - The maximum cumulative amount you can spend within a monthly billing cycle.
Important: Your Monthly Spending Limit must always be equal to or higher than your Daily Spending Limit.
The default limits are:
- Daily Spending Limit: S$2,000
- Monthly Spending Limit: No Limit
A Monthly Spending Limit of "No Limit" means there is no spending cap imposed by the debit card limit setting. However, all spending remains subject to the available balance in your linked account.
Yes. You can customise both your Daily and Monthly Spending Limits. The maximum limits that can be set are:
- Daily Spending Limit: Up to S$50,000
- Monthly Spending Limit: No Limit
All spending remains subject to the available balance in your linked account.
You can change your limits through:
- UOB TMRW app
- Select Accounts
- Select your Debit Card
- Tap Services
- Select Set debit card limits
- Update and confirm your preferred limits
- UOB Debit Card Daily/Monthly Limit Form
- Download the UOB Debit Card Daily/Monthly Limit Form and send it back to us.
The UOB TMRW app supports most limit adjustments. Customers who require very low limits (below the app's minimum threshold) should submit the limit form instead.
Through the UOB TMRW app, the minimum Daily and Monthly Spending Limit is S$1,000.
If you wish to set a Daily or Monthly Spending Limit below S$1,000 (down to S$1), you will need to submit the UOB Debit Card Daily/Monthly Limit Form.
No. The Monthly Spending Limit cannot be lower than the Daily Spending Limit. If you wish to increase your Daily Spending Limit beyond your current Monthly Spending Limit, you must first increase your Monthly Spending Limit accordingly.
No. ATM withdrawal limits and Debit Card Spending Limits are separate controls. There are other different limits for:
- UOB ATM cash withdrawal limit – controls the amount you can withdraw from UOB ATMs. Click here for more details.
- NETS transaction limit - defaulted at S$2,000 per day and is not customisable.
- Debit Card Spending Limit – controls the spend for Mastercard / Visa transactions.
A transaction may still be declined for reasons such as:
- Insufficient available account balance
- Merchant restrictions
- Security or fraud screening
- Overseas usage settings not enabled
- UOB transaction approval controls
All transactions remain subject to the available balance in your linked account and the Bank's approval processes.
- Your Daily Spending Limit resets at 7:00 AM (Singapore time) each day.
- Your Monthly Spending Limit is generally reset at 7:00 AM on the day after your debit card billing cycle date (T+1).
For example, if your billing cycle date is the 1st of each month, your Monthly Spending Limit will normally reset at 7:00 AM on the 2nd of each month.
Public Holiday Exceptions
- If the billing cycle date (T) falls on a public holiday, the Monthly Spending Limit will reset earlier, at 7:00 AM on the previous working day.
- If T+1 falls on a public holiday, the reset timing is not affected and the Monthly Spending Limit will still reset at 7:00 AM on T+1.
Example (Billing Cycle Date = 1st of the Month)
- Normal scenario: Monthly limit resets on 2 April 2026 at 7:00 AM.
- If 1 April 2026 is a public holiday, the Monthly Spending Limit resets earlier on 1 April 2026 at 7:00 AM (transactions up to 31 March end of day continue to count towards the previous cycle).
- If 2 April 2026 is a public holiday, the Monthly Spending Limit still resets on 2 April 2026 at 7:00 AM.
Assume you have:
- Daily Spending Limit: S$2,000
- Monthly Spending Limit: S$10,000
If you spend S$1,500 today, you can still spend S$500 more today before reaching your Daily Spending Limit. At 7:00 AM tomorrow, your Daily Spending Limit resets, allowing you to spend up to S$2,000 again, provided you have not exceeded your Monthly Spending Limit of S$10,000. Once your cumulative spending reaches S$10,000, further debit card purchases will be declined until your Monthly Spending Limit resets.
You can check your available balance through any of the following channels:
- UOB TMRW app
- UOB Personal Internet Banking (PIB)
- UOB ATMs
- Current Balance: Total money in your account.
- Available Balance: Money available after deducting pending transactions.
- Withdrawable Balance: Money you can withdraw or spend immediately after deducting pending transactions and any locked funds.
Example:
If your account has:
- Current Balance: S$2,000
- Pending transactions: S$300
- Locked funds: S$500
Then:
- Available Balance: S$1,700
- Withdrawable Balance: S$1,200
In short: Your account shows S$2,000, but you can only withdraw or spend S$1,200 immediately.
