Electronic Deferred Payment (EDP)

Electronic Deferred Payment (EDP)

A digital alternative for deferred payments.

What is EDP?

What is EDP?

The EDP and EDP+ are two new e-payment solutions for making deferred payments electronically. Both solutions are introduced to complement existing digital payment modes such as PayNow and FAST. No sign-up is required.

Individual customers may continue to issue cheques to, or deposit cheques from, other individuals after 31 December 2026, while cheques from corporates will no longer be processed for payment after 31 December 2026.

We encourage you to go digital for a more secure and faster payment method.

How it works

Payer issues an EDP/EDP+Payer issues an EDP/EDP+
Payer issues an EDP/EDP+

EDP/EDP+ must be created through UOB TMRW. When a payer creates an EDP+, the full value of the EDP+ will be deducted immediately from the payer’s account. The EDP/EDP+ created by the payer will only be valid for 6 months.

Payee will be notified of the EDP/EDP+ issuance. Payee must submit the payment collection request through the payee’s bank to receive the EDP/EDP+ within the 6-month validity period.

Once the payee has submitted his/her payment collection request, the payer will be notified by the payer’s bank.

Payment to the payee bank is processed by the payer bank within 2 working days from the date of the payee submitting the payment collection request. For EDP, funds will now be deducted from the payer’s account for payment to the payee’s bank.
