Submit your Banker’s Guarantee to Singapore Customs electronically with UOB’s Electronic Banker’s Guarantee (eBG) Programme

Overview

UOB is a participating bank under the Electronic Banker’s Guarantee (eBG) Programme offered by Singapore Customs.

Under this programme, the original hardcopy Banker’s Guarantee (BG) will no longer be required by Singapore Customs and UOB will submit your BG data electronically to Singapore Customs on your behalf. This will save you time and effort from having to physically collect or arrange for the BG to be collected from UOB, before delivering it to Singapore Customs.

Benefits

Save time with prioritised BG processing from Singapore Customs

Reduce the hassle of courier arrangements for BG pick up or delivery

Avoid delays in document transit

How it works?

  1. The BG applicant applies to issue a BG through UOB, indicating Director-General of Customs / Deputy Comptroller of Goods and Services Tax as the beneficiary.
  2. UOB issues BG and sends digital BG data to Singapore Customs via the Networked Trade Platform (NTP).
  3. Singapore Customs will email the Primary Contact registered in the Singapore Customs Account, once BG has been successfully registered.

How to Apply

Step 1 Complete your BG and EBGP application forms.
Step 2 Submit both the completed application forms and the Singapore Customs approved eBG format or eExtension format to UOB, either through our UOB Infinity portal, or over-the-counter. If you do not have an existing BG facility with us, you can apply for an Express BG and enjoy a S$100 fee waiver. Terms and conditions apply.
Step 3 Once the BG has been successfully registered by Singapore Customs, you will receive an email notification.

FAQ

The Electronic Banker’s Guarantee (eBG) Programme is offered by Singapore Customs to speed up the security lodgement process of Banker’s Guarantee with Singapore Customs. Under the enhanced eBG Programme launched on 2nd November 2020, it will be a fully paperless process whereUOB will send the BG digital data via Networked Trade Platform (NTP) on your behalf directly to Singapore Customs, without the need to generate or deliver any original BG.

Under this programme, you will no longer need to manually collect the original BG from bank counters and deliver it to Singapore Customs. UOB will send the digital BG data to Singapore Customs on your behalf. BG Claims or BG discharge will be done by Singapore Customs electronically to the Bank, via NTP.

The eBG Programme is only applicable for new BGs and extensions of BGs issued favouring Singapore Customs (Director-General of Customs / Deputy Comptroller of Goods and Services Tax).

Under this programme, your security lodgement will be prioritised by Singapore Customs and you will not have to physically collect or deliver the original BG from UOB. Overall this shortens your current lodgement process with Singapore Customs.

No, this is an opt-in programme. You may still choose to continue with the current BG issuance process and continue to submit and collect your original BGs from our trade counters before submitting them to Singapore Customs.

To process your BG under the eBG Programme you simply have to submit the completed EBGP form together with your completed BG application form and Singapore Customs’ approved eBG or eExtension formats.

Yes, you can apply for your BG issuance through UOB Infinity and upload your completed EBGP application form and eBG or eExtension formats as supporting documents.

No, if you join the eBG Programme which is fully paperless, you will not be able to collect your original BG from our Trade counters as there will not be any original BG generated.

All standard BG issuance and processing fees apply.

More information regarding eBG Programme can be found at the Singapore Customs page. Alternatively, you may call our Corporate Transaction Services Hotline at 6878 0707. (Operating hours are 9am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays, excluding Public Holidays.)

You may check with Customs on the status of the BG registration. Enquiries/feedback regarding BG may be submitted via the online feedback form (https://www.customs.gov.sg/feedback). The relevant section to select from the dropdown is "Traders – Registering to Trade".
