FAQs

  1. Does InsureHelper meet the requirements of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for migrant domestic workers?

Yes, InsureHelper provides coverage in line with MOM’s revised requirements effective 1 October 2017 which include:

    • Personal accident coverage of up to S$60,000,
    • Coverage of up to S$15,000 per year on hospital and surgical expenses such as inpatient care and day surgery; and
    • Security bond of S$5,000*. The bond can be in the form of a banker's or insurer's guarantee.

*Security bond is not required for Malaysian migrant domestic workers under MOM’s requirements.

For more information, please refer to MOM’s "Work Permit for Migrant Domestic Workers".

  2. How does the Letter of Guarantee to MOM work?

Instead of putting S$5,000 cash with MOM, you can choose to purchase a Letter of Guarantee (which is part of the InsureHelper coverage). In the event you breach the conditions governing the employment of your migrant domestic worker, we will pay MOM first and then recover the amount from you.

The same principle works for the Insurance Bond submitted to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore.

  3. Why is the Period of Insurance shown on the Schedule 26 months when the work permit issued to my migrant domestic worker is only for 24 months?

The additional 2 months is a requirement from MOM. There is no additional premium charged for the additional 2 months coverage.

  4. Does the Personal Accident Insurance cover my migrant domestic worker when she is on home leave?

The Personal Accident Insurance coverage will cease from the time your migrant domestic worker leaves Singapore for her home leave. The coverage will resume upon her return to Singapore provided her work permit is still valid during the period of insurance.

  5. When can I do the renewal of my migrant domestic worker’s work permit via MOM’s website after I submit my InsureHelper application?

We will transmit your data to MOM on the same business day if we receive your application before noon. Applications received after noon or on non-business days will be processed on the next business day.

Upon receiving the transmission result from us, which will be within 3 days from our data transmission to MOM, you may log in to MOM’s website with your SingPass to renew your migrant domestic worker’s work permit.

  1. How much premium refund can I receive if I cancel InsureHelper before the expiry date?

We will only cancel your policy upon the receipt of the discharge notice given by MOM during the Period of Insurance. The premium refund is based on the following scale, provided there is no claim made under this Policy.

There will be no refund of insurance premium if there is a claim made under the policy.

Discharge Date Percentage of Premium Refund
Within 31 days from the effective date of the Policy 85%
Between 32 to 60 days from the effective date of the Policy 80%
Between 61 to 90 days from the effective date of the Policy 60%
Between 91 to 180 days from the effective date of the Policy 30%
More than 180 days from the effective date of the Policy No Refund
  1. How can I make a claim?

You may contact our Claims Division at 6222 7733 during business hours. We will advise you on the claim procedure depending on the type of claim.
