May I know what is this Lunar New Year used notes promotion all about?
Due to COVID-19, all local banks are required to implement online pre-booking for physical exchange of notes at our bank branches to facilitate safe distancing measures during the LNY notes exchange period.

We continue to keep the safety and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues as top priority. As we anticipate increased footfall at our branches, coupled with limited quantity of new notes, the Bank encourages our customers to choose used notes.

The first 5000 customers who reserve used notes via our online form and collect the notes at our branches during the promotion period from 20 December 2021 to 31 December 2021 will be entitled to a S$8 Grabfood voucher*. Limited to 1 redemption per customer, while stocks last.

Alternatively, we recommend sending e-Hongbaos through PayNow or PayNow via QR Pay with our UOB TMRW app, allowing the tradition of giving to be contact free, while staying connected to our loved ones even when apart.

What is the difference between 'used' notes versus 'new' notes?
Used notes essentially means existing notes that are already in circulation instead of new notes. Singapore currencies are polymer notes printed on specialised polypropylene plastic that are of a high quality that can be continually reused and suitable for gifting.

 

Why should I go for used notes for the Lunar New Year notes exchange?
We keep the safety and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues as top priority. As we anticipate increased footfall at our branches, we encourage customers to choose used notes for the LNY notes exchange.

Alternatively, we recommend that customers send e-Hongbao via PayNow instead, which is contactless and convenient. In this way, customers can avoid the anticipated increased footfall and possibly longer waiting time at our branches.

 

If I go for used notes, will I still be able to make online reservation for new notes for the Lunar New Year?
Yes. Please note that customers who make any further online reservation for the LNY new notes will be deemed ineligible to participate in the LNY used notes promotion.

 

When is the online reservation and collection period for the used notes?
The online reservation window period for used notes opens from 20 December 2021 to 31 December 2021. Collection slots are available from 23 December 2021 to 8 January 2022.

Where online slots are available for reservation, the earliest collection date available would be 3 business days ahead (excluding Sundays). The last day for online reservation is scheduled on 31 December 2021. However, in the event that all reservation slots are fully taken up prior to 31 December, the online reservation portal will close without prior notice to customers.

Reservations are on a first-come-first served basis, and subject to availability.

 

How do I know if I am entitled to the used notes promotion voucher? When will I receive the voucher?
The first 5000 customers who reserve and collect the used notes at our branches during the promotion period from 20 December 2021 to 31 December 2021 will be entitled to a S$8 Grabfood voucher*. Limited to 1 redemption per customer, while stocks last.

Eligible customers will be notified via SMS on the one-time promotional Grabfood voucher code that will be sent to their registered Singapore mobile number on UOB’s records by 28 February 2022.

How do I go about reserving used notes for the Lunar New Year?
Customers can access the used notes reservation form:

  • Step 1: Key in name, NRIC/PP (optional) and mobile number
  • Step 2: Select notes denominations
  • Step 3: Select preferred branch, date and time of appointment
  • Step 4: Click on ‘Reserve Notes’ to complete your reservation

 

I cannot find my preferred branch, date or time slot on the online reservation form. Why is that so?
The online reservation slots are available on a first-come-first served basis. If you cannot find your preferred branch, date and time slot from the listing, it means that the reservation slots have been filled up. Please select another available branch and time slot.

 

Can I make amendments to my online reservation order?
No, amendments cannot be made once the reservation has been confirmed. Please double-check your particulars, preferred branch, date and time prior to submission.

 

Am I able to make multiple reservations across UOB branches?
Customers are allowed to make multiple reservations. However, please note that each customer is entitled only to one promotional voucher regardless of the number of reservations, subject to the first 5000 unique customers on a first-come-first-exchanged basis.

Is there a maximum limit that I can exchange and what are the denominations?
Each customer can reserve up to the following amount and denominations:

  • $2 notes: $1000 (in multiples of $200)
  • $10 notes: Up to $2000 (in multiples of $100)
  • $50 notes: Up to $2000 (in multiples of $100)
  • Maximum amount: Up to $5,000

I missed my appointment slot. What should I do?
Please make another new reservation online, subject to availability of slots.

 

Can I collect the used notes outside of my reservation slot or at a different branch?
No, customers can only collect the notes that they have reserved at their selected branch and reservation timing.

 

What documents do I need to bring along for collection of the reused notes?
Collection must be done in person with NRIC or passport for verification. Exchange may be made either with cash or debit from the customer’s current or savings account on the day of collection.

 

Can I collect the used notes on behalf of my family member who has already made a reservation?
Collection must be done in person with NRIC or passport for verification.

 

Do I have to join the queue at the branch since I have made an online reservation?
Yes, in view of safe distancing measures, the branch can only accommodate a maximum number of customers at any one time. Please approach our service manager at the branch for further assistance on the day of collection.

 

Am I able to request for additional quantity of used notes if I require more?
Yes. Upon collection at your selected branch, customers can request for the required denominations, subject to availability.
