Frequently Asked Questions

General

Why do I have to make an online reservation for New/Fit-for-Gifting notes, when I did not have to do so in previous years?
chevron

All local banks are required to implement online pre-booking for physical exchange of New/Fit notes at our bank branches during the LNY exchange period. Having pre-booking also ensures that those who have made a reservation will be able to exchange notes during the exchange period.

In caring for the health and safety of our customers and colleagues, UOB is also stepping up the measures to prevent overcrowding and to combat the spread of COVID-19. We will be availing more ATMs for New/Fit notes withdrawal for our customers this year. Please visit uob.com.sg/lny for more info on our LNY ATMs.

Alternatively, we recommend sending e-Hongbao through PayNow or PayNow via QR Pay with our UOB TMRW app, allowing the tradition of giving to be contact-free, while staying connected to our loved ones even when apart.

‘Fit-for-Gifting’ notes (or ‘Fit notes’ in short) are used currency notes that are generally clean and of suitable quality for recirculation, including for festive gifting. They are similar to notes from ATMs.

UOB customers, except for the elderly aged 60 and above, or customers with disabilities, are required to make an online reservation before heading down to their selected branch to exchange for New/Fit notes.

Fit notes are a more sustainable option as producing new notes results in additional carbon emissions. In the effort to reduce our carbon footprint, you can do your part by choosing Fit notes this LNY.

Alternatively, we recommend that customers send e-Hongbao via PayNow instead, which is contactless and convenient. In this way, customers can avoid the anticipated increased footfall and possibly longer waiting time at our branches.
